Day 2's sketch is a Folk art inspired, watercolour painting. It was quite relaxing to spend a bit of time just painting on a hot, sunny evening after work.

The 30 Day Sketch

Lately I've noticed lots of blogger's and internet types taking part in the '30 Day Snap' project- documenting their lives through photography for 30 days. Inspired by this I thought I could set myself the challenge of sketching/drawing/painting something everyday for 30 days as a way of keeping up my drawing whilst on summer holidays from uni. A little over ambitious maybe? Here goes...

Day #1

A quick sketch of one of the catwalk models from Dolce & Gabbana's Spring 2013 RTW collection.

I absolutely love this collection, inspired by 'Sicilia' the collection featured vibrant, ornate patterns from imagery that celebrates the culture and heritage of the region. Details of tassel, wicker and coral embroidery on straw have a folksy feel; which sits beautifully alongside the bold striped 1950's-esque pieces, that are reminiscent of glamorous vintage travel posters.

Due to some technical error's too complicated for me to resolve my last blog; http://laurenbevan.blogspot.co.uk/  has died!

So here goes my first post on this shiny new blog with a uni update;

My first year at Cardiff met ended with a digital project themed 'Maritime'. The brief dictated we complete a hypothetical commission for the School of management building. We were to design a banner that would compliment the professional, modern building that was vibrant, colourful and based on the word 'maritime' and its connotations.

The project was to be completed using Photoshop and Illustrator, we also had access to the archives at the National Museum to draw from the botanical studies and artifacts for primary research.

Through the completion of the project I gained so much knowledge of using Photoshop and Illustrator, of designing for a customer and creating a successful moodboard and colour palette. The project was the exact type of thing I hoped to be doing on my degree course. Here are some of my final designs;
